Norway’s Eidesvik scores PSV hat trick

Eidesvik Offshore, a Norwegian supplier of offshore vessels, has secured contracts for three of its platform suppliers, bringing some positive news from the sector plagued with lay-ups this year.

The company has informed that the platform supply vessels Viking Lady and Viking Athene have been awarded a contract with Total E & P Norge AS for one well starting mid-December 2015.

Furthermore, Eidesvik revealed its Viking Prince vessel has secured a one well contract from late December with an undisclosed client. Eidesvik did not disclose financial details of the charters. The company did not reveal the financial details of the deals signed.

Eidesvik, which last month celebrated 50 years of existence, is continuing from where it left off in November when it announced a two-year contract extension with Statoil for the LNG-powered PSV Viking Energy.

Unlike Eidesvik, the company’s rivals and compatriots, Island Offshore and Olympic Shipping in November stacked some of their vessels. Island Offshore laid up the Island Commander platform supply vessel, while Olympic docked two anchor handlers and one PSV.

There are currently around a hundred offshore support vessels laid up in ports across the North Sea sector, both UK and Norway, waiting for work.
