Specialist marine services provider Viking SeaTech UK has secured a long-term North Sea contract with the UK business of international oil and gas company Maersk Oil.

According to its press release, this is the first time Viking SeaTech has secured a contract with the major oil and gas operator.

The agreement is for the supply of rig move equipment and storage services. It covers a fixed period of three years and also contains options for multiple extensions.

John Dick, managing director, Viking SeaTech UK, said: “We are pleased to build our relationship with Maersk Oil in this region and look forward to several successful years together. I’m delighted with the result of the negotiations.

“As part of the arrangement we will keep Maersk Oil’s equipment safe and secure at our premises so it is ready for use in combination with our own for each project stage. We’ll collaborate with Maersk Oil’s marine superintendent and his team and start work immediately.”

The company will support Maersk’s assets in the Dumbarton, Gryphon and Janice fields. The schedule includes the use of the Sedco 704 semi-submersible.
