OTC: Spotlight on New Technology Awards for Cameron and OneSubsea

Business & Finance

Cameron and OneSubsea have each won Spotlight on New Technology Awards at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston.

Cameron got the award for its Mark IV High Availability (HA) Control System for Blowout Preventers (BOPs) and OneSubsea won the award for its Multiphase Compressor.

Cameron and OneSubsea are among fourteen awarded companies that OTC recognized to have innovative, proven products of broad interest that have significant impact, and that exhibited at the conference.

OTC recognizes Cameron’s Mark IV HA control system to be the industry’s first three-POD control system. According to the company, the new system allows drillers to continue operating when one POD becomes unavailable. The company said that, because of this configuration, the Mark IV HA BOP control system improves operational availability to as much as 98% and reduces the likelihood of a POD-related stack pull by up to 73%.

OneSubsea got the award for the industry’s “first true subsea multiphase compressor”. The company notes that the multiphase compressor, delivered to Statoil in March, represents “a break-through in technology”, enabling compression of the unprocessed well stream without any need for pre-processing and no requirements for an upstream separation facility or an anti-surge system, which greatly simplifies the subsea system requirements.
