PHOTO: World’s largest jack-up loaded. Sets sail to Norway

The photo above shows one of the world’s largest jack-up drilling rigs being loaded on a heavy lift vessel in Singapore.

The recently delivered ‘Maersk Integrator’ rig is owned by the Danish offshore drilling company Maersk Drilling. The rig, built by Keppel shipyard in Singapore, is now sailing to Norway, loaded aboard the Hawk heavy lifter.

According to the available AIS data, the Hawk has just left the Strait of Malacca, between Malaysia and Indonesia. The vessel, with the ‘Maersk Integrator’ aboard, is expected to reach Stavanger, Norway, in mid April 2015.

Following the delivery, the ‘Maersk Integrator’ will begin its four year contract with Statoil. The Norwegian oil company will used the rig for development drilling in the Gina Krog field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The estimated contract value for the firm contract is $620 million.

The ‘Maersk Integrator’, of the XLE design, has a leg length of 206.8m (678ft) and is designed for year round operations in the North Sea, in water depths up to 150m (492ft).
