Petrobras to exclude SBM Offshore from FPSO bidding

World’s largest FPSO supplier could miss out on Libra and Tartaruga Verde bidding in Brazil.

Petrobras will not be seeking bids from SBM Offshore, as long as the Dutch supplier of floating production units is under bribery investigation in Brazil, Maria das Gracas Silva Foster, CEO of the Brazilian state-controlled oil company, said.

According to Reuters, Maria das Gracas Silva Foster revealed the news of exclusion of SBM Offshore from future bids during hearings before Brazilian congressional committee.

SBM Offshore, the world’s largest supplier of floating production storage and offloading vessels known as FPSOs, this morning confirmed it was in talks with Petrobras regarding participation in the upcoming Tartaruga Verde and Libra tenders.

“The Company has deployed significant resources on bidding activities to date and as such is seeking clarification, legal and otherwise, for the potential exclusion from both tenders. SBM Offshore will inform the market when a conclusion is reached,” SBM Offshore said in a statement.
