DNV GL names regional manager for UK and Southern Africa

Hari Vamadevan has been appointed as DNV GL’s regional manager for UK and Southern Africa as the company looks to establish itself as the leading technical advisor to the oil and gas industry.

Vamadevan was previously DNV’s UK regional manager and the new role will see him head up 13 oil and gas related offices throughout the UK. The number of staff in the country has doubled from 400 to 800.

Vamadevan said: “I am delighted to be taking on this role at a very exciting time for DNV GL. We are able to offer more products and services and have the expertise to provide oil and gas companies and engineering contractors with a second-to-none management and technical advisory service, drawing on the expertise of the legacy companies.”

The addition of Southern Africa to the region brings opportunities to transfer the knowledge and technology from the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) to areas such as Angola, Nigeria, Ghana and newer developments in Mozambique and Tanzania.

DNV GL’s differentiated offering to the market includes the Spadeadam test site in the North of England. The world-leading facility is equipped to carry out large and full-scale hazardous trials on oil and gas assets, simulating real-world environments.

Vamadevan continues: “A team of on-site scientists and engineers have the operational expertise to design and construct bespoke solutions for a wide range of equipment and materials. The dedicated testing team helps the oil and gas industry to validate the operation of assets, as well as delivering accurate measurements to help optimise equipment performance. The site’s remote and secure location has given many clients access to some of the world’s most advanced destructive and non-destructive test facilities to carry out discreet research and design with complete confidentiality.”

In addition, DNV GL has onshore pipeline expertise at a Flow Centre in the North-east of England. The centre is one of the largest high pressure natural gas flow facilities in the world and has developed a reputation for outstanding technical expertise, quality and flexibility of service and an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the flow measurement and control industry.
