Perisai Eyeing New Contract for Rubicone MOPU

Perisai Eyeing New Contract for Rubicone MOPU

Malaysia’s Perisai Petroleum is looking for a new client for its Rubicone Mobile Offshore Production Unit (MOPU). The two year charter deal Rubicone has with Gryphon Energy is set to expire at the end of this month.

In preparation of the expiration of the charter, the planning for the demobilisation of the Rubicone has begun.

The Rubicone is a Malaysian ABS Class Mobile Offshore Production Unit or MOPU, converted in 2011 from a BMC-250 Mat Supported Jack-Up Platform.
Equipped with a rack and pinion elevating system powered by Hagglunds motors. Weighing at 5,113  tonnes, it has a daily production capacity of 165 MMscfd of gas, 5,262 BPD of oil and 2,044 BPD of water.

Perisai said it was considering all available options in securing a new deal for the Rubicone, which brought 40% to the company’s 1H revenue.

According to Kenanga Research, it could take around 6 months for the MOPU to secure a new contract.
