Dagny Field Renamed to Gina Krog Field (Norway) (2)

The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has decided to rename the Dagny field in the North Sea, Statoil, the operator of the field, announced today.

As from today 8 March – International Women’s Day – the field will be known as Gina Krog. Krog (1847-1916) was a well-known champion of women’s rights, who fought for equal rights for men and women and took  part in the struggle to achieve voting rights for women on the same terms as men.

Statoil and the partners in the Dagny field in the North Sea submitted the Plan for Development and Operation (PDO) to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy in December 2012. The development concept consists of a fixed platform to be tied in to the Sleipner field for gas export. The oil will be transported by tankers.

The recoverable reserves are estimated at 225 million barrels of oil equivalent.
