Wintershall to Use Transocean Arctic for PL 418 Drilling (Norway)

Wintershall Norge AS has received consent to conduct drilling of an exploration well in a prospect in production licence 418 in the northern part of the North Sea, Norway. The drilling operation will be carried out with the Transocean Arctic semi-submersible drilling rig.

Wintershall is the operator of production licence 418, which is located west of Sognefjorden, between the Vega and Gjøa fields.

The exploration well will be drilled as a main well with a sidetrack, designated 35/9-8 and 35/9-8A, respectively. The plan is to start drilling in February 2013, with a duration of up to 140 days, including potential well tests.

The location is approx. 207 km west-southwest of the supply base in Florø. Water depth at the site is 368 metres
