Maersk Secures USD 250 Million Worth of Contracts with Petrobras and ExxonMobil

Maersk Supply Service, a leading provider of global offshore marine services has won four major contracts worth about around USD 250 million with the major Brazilian oil company Petrobras and American oil giant ExxonMobil for operation in Australia.

Brazil is a strategically important area for Maersk Supply Service and the A. P. Moller – Maersk Group and the new contracts demonstrate Maersk Supply Service’s continued commitment to developing business there. Maersk Supply Service currently has 22 vessels operating offshore Brazil and harbours further growth ambitions.

“These contracts reinforce our strong relationships with two of the industry leaders in deepwater exploration andproduction requiring high safety and specialized operational performance,” says Carsten Plougmann Andersen, CEO of Maersk Supply Service.

“We are very pleased with having won these contracts in very tough tendering processes. We have been working with Petrobras for more than 25 years in ever increasing water depths with currently 17 vessels on charter to the mand look forward to continue the deepwater-journey together,” he says.

Petrobras is Maersk Supply Service biggest customer.

The two Danish anchor handling tug supply vessels MÆRSK BLAZER and MÆRSK BOULDER have each won four year extensions of current contracts with Petrobras, from February 2012. The vessels have been working for Petrobras since 2007 and 1999 respectively and mainly perform deep water operations with conventional and torpedo anchors.

Two contracts have also been concluded with American oil major ExxonMobil, for minimum two years each for the Danish flagged platform supply vessels MÆRSK NOMAD and MÆRSK NEXUS. The MÆRSK NOMAD contract includes significant modifications including fitting a 125-tonne crane on the vessel to enable her to support subsea operations in the Jansz field on the North West shelf. MÆRSK NEXUS is already in Australia on contract and MÆRSK NOMAD will be delivered to Exxon in April 2012. Australia is a growing market and Maersk Supply Service aim toexpand their market share in the region.

“Our relationship with ExxonMobil is strong worldwide and especially in Canada and West Africa,” Mr. Plougmann adds.

“We are very pleased to expand our close relationship with ExxonMobil to Australia where the versatility of ourmodern vessels will be tested in providing full value to ExxonMobil,” he says.
