Building on the WinGD technology the new additions to the portfolio include the X40DF, X82D and X82DF engines.

Amid the shipping industry’s preparations for the upcoming regulations, World Maritime News spoke to Volkmar Galke, General Manager of Sales at WinGD, during Nor-Shipping, one of the biggest maritime events in the world, in Oslo.

Galke explained the benefits of the company’s new engines, focusing on WinGD’s new X82D engine designed for larger vessels. This engine is dual fuel (DF) ready, with the ability to upgrade to operation with LNG, fulfilling requirements for gas-ready notations from classification societies.

Take a look at the interview below for more details on WinGD’s view of the industry’s decarbonization path and how the company can help shipowners achieve compatibility:

WinGD’s dual-fuel low-speed engine will be installed in some of the world’s largest containerships, the CMA CGM’s nine 22,000 TEU units that were ordered in September 2017.

China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) launched the construction of the boxship giants in late July 2018. The USD 1.2 billion worth containerships are scheduled to start joining the fleet from the end of 2019 extending into 2020.

The vessels measure 400 meters in length, 61.3 meters in breadth and 33.5 meters in depth.
