Maran Orders Two Tankers at DSME

South Korean shipbuilding giant Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co (DSME) has won an order from Greece-based Maran Tankers Management to build two oil tankers.

The contract was signed on Friday, May 15th and entails construction of two 156,000 DWT crude oil tankers slated for delivery in early 2017.

The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

The Greek tanker owner and operator has six VLCCs on order at DSME scheduled for delivery in 2016.

DSME said in a release that the contract follows a separate agreement with Angelicoussis Shipping Group, parent of Maran Tankers, on construction of two very large crude carriers.

The shipbuilder has signed secured 12 contracts so far this year worth a total of USD 17.2 billion.
