Evergreen Back to Black

Business & Finance

Taiwanese container carrier Evergreen Marine has steamed its way back to profit in the first quarter of 2015.

The company recovered from a loss worth TWD 1.69 million from 2014 to a profit of TWD 1.53 million (USD 50,200).

The rebounded results were mainly attributed to reduced operating costs.

Taipei-listed liner said that its revenue has a slight improvement during the quarter amounting to TWD 35.3 million against TWD 34.32 million in the same period last year.

The liner has bounced back from a loss of TWD 2.04 bn to a gain of TWD 2.05 bn in 2014.

Evergreen currently operates sixty-six ships within the medium to ultra-large size range and has been reported to had ordered up to eleven 18,000 TEU container ships with Japan’s Shoei Kisen Kaisha, thus joining the elite club of mega-ship owners.
