Cochin Shipyard Launches Two PSVs for Shipping Corporation of India -

Cochin Shipyard launched two Platform Supply Vessels for Shipping Corporation of India on 05 Jan 12. Shri B Chakravarty, General Manager, SCI launched ship BY-85, SCI Nalanda and Shri Cherian George, Executive Director, CSL launched BY-86 (SCI Yamuna), in the presence of Cmde K Subramaniam, CMD, CSL and other directors.

Both vessels are UT 755 CD type Platform Supply Vessel, designed by Rolls-Royce Marine AS, Norway and are dual classed under the Rules and Regulations of Det Norske Veritas and Indian Register of Shipping. The vessel has a dimension of 78.70 x 16.00 x 7.00 Metre. It is a high end Diesel Electric PSV with 4 Nos. 910 KW Diesel Generator sets and 2 Nos. 1470 KW input power azimuth thrusters. The vessel has been assigned the ‘CLEAN’ design notation by DNV/IRS signifying the highest levels of environmental compliance. The vessel with accommodation for 26 persons is also meeting the requirements of COMF class signifying high comfort levels due to special arrangements to attain very low levels of noise and vibration and has fire fighting facilities meeting FIRE FIGHTER-1 Notation.
