Hong Kong-based shipowner Seaspan Corporation has taken delivery of the fifth and final SAVER design containership under bareboat charter to Mediterranean Shipping Company.

The 11,000 TEU MSC Yashi B will commence a bareboat charter with the Swiss carrier for a period of seventeen years.

Upon completion of the bareboat charter period, MSC is obligated to purchase the vessel for a pre-determined amount.

Constructed at Hanjin Subic shipyard in the Phillippines, MSC Yashi B is Seaspan’s first vessel delivery in 2018, expanding Seaspan’s operating fleet to 90 vessels.

The company took delivery of the fourth ship from the batch just last month. The 330-meter-long MSC Madhu B was bareboat chartered to MSC under the same conditions.

Back in September 2017, Seaspan added the third SAVER vessel, MSC Nitya B.

The company’s managed fleet comprises 110 containerships with a total capacity of around 900,000 TEU, including 4 newbuilding containerships on order scheduled for delivery to Seaspan and third parties by the end of 2018.
