Fednav Orders Six More Lakers in Japan

 Canada’s dry-bulk shipping company Fednav has placed an order for six 34,500 DWT bulkers at Japanese Oshima Shipbuilding, the company confirmed to World Maritime News.

The 1C Ice class lakers are slated for delivery between 2019 and 2020.

The price details of the newbuildings have not been disclosed.The latest order brings the company’s newbuilding tally to ten, as there are already four Handy bulkers being constructed at Oshima for Fednav.

The 35,000 DWT quartet is slated for delivery in 2018, and they are valued at approximately USD 21 million apiece, according to the data from VesselsValue.

Fednav’s fleet comprises close to 100 owned, long-term chartered and spot chartered vessels, including St. Lawrence Seaway-max-sized bulk carriers, Supramax, and Panamax vessels.
