Pantheon Tankers Tied to Phoenix Advance Acquisition

Business & Finance

Greece-based tanker management firm Pantheon Tankers Management has bought a second-hand Aframax tanker from Singaporean owner Phoenix Tankers.

The transaction, dated July 13, shows the 2011-built Phoenix Advance being sold for USD 28 million, based on VesselValue’s data.

The Aframax will join the company’s 20-strong tanker fleet.

Pantheon has three more newbuilds on order, two 114,700 DWT Aframaxes at Japan’s Namura Shipbuilding and one Suezmax tanker of 158,000 DWT taking shape at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).

The Aframax pair is slated for delivery to the company in 2018, while the Suezmax tanker, named Sea Garnet, should be handed over by HHI by the end of this year.

Sea Garnet will be the third VLCC delivered to Pantheon by HHI this year, joining Sea Pearl and Sea Ruby, handed over in January and March respectively.

Both companies are yet to confirm the deal to World Maritime News.
