Cosco Nets USD 230 Million in Shipbuilding Contracts

Cosco Qidong Offshore and Cosco Dalian Shipyard have secured contracts valued at approximately USD 230 million to build a Floating Accommodation Unit (FAU) and a Module Carrier, respectively.


COSCO Qidong Offshore Co. secured a contract from an unnamed Singapore entity to build the FAU, scheduled for delivery in 1Q 2017. The buyer has also secured options for five additional FAUs.

COSCO Dalian Shipyard Co. was given the green light to build a 21,000 DWT Module Carrier for Holland-based BigRoll Shipping under the first option cited in the announcement dated September 12, 2013. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2Q 2016.

The vessel’s sister ships BigRoll Barentsz and BigRoll Bering are scheduled for delivery in August and October 2015, respectively.
