Jan De Nul Completes Turbine Installation at Blyth OWF

Jan De Nul installed the fifth and final MHI Vestas 8.3MW turbine at the Blyth Offshore Demonstrator Project site yesterday, 28 September.

The company’s jack-up vessel Vole au vent loaded the last two turbines earlier this week at the Port of Esbjerg in Denmark.

The first turbine went up on 18 September, after the gravity base foundations (GBFs) were installed using the new “float and submerge” process.

The 41.5MW Blyth Offshore Demonstrator Project, located 5.7km off the coast of Blyth, Northumberland, is the first to utilise the hybrid gravity based foundations, as well as 66kV electrical infrastructure.

The first power at the wind farm is expected to be generated later this year.

The project is being developed by EDF Energy Renewables.
