Norwegian energy data and intelligence company TGS has kicked off a high-resolution data upgrade to support future well planning and reservoir evaluation at an offshore discovery, which was made in 2025 off the coast of Malaysia.
TGS has revealed a 3D PSDM multi-parameter-FWI reprocessing project covering approximately 514 square kilometers over Petronas’ 2025 Megah discovery in Block SB-3K, offshore Sabah, Malaysia. The reprocessed data will support more confident geological interpretation, prospect evaluation, and future appraisal well planning.
The project, which aims to deliver an improved dataset, utilizing a high-resolution velocity model and diffraction imaging across the field, kicked off the processing stage in July 2026, with final products scheduled for April 2027.
This assignment allows TGS to apply its advanced Elastic Multi-Parameter Full Waveform Inversion and depth imaging technologies on its own legacy Geostreamer Sabah multi-client 3D Phase 2 dataset, acquired in 2017.
David Hajovsky, EVP Multi-Client, commented: "The Megah discovery has reinforced the exploration potential of this area, and advanced reprocessing can play an important role in reducing subsurface uncertainty.
"This project highlights TGS' ability to apply leading imaging workflows where improved subsurface definition can directly support exploration and appraisal decisions."
This year has brought many new contract awards to TGS, including a recent extension of a seismic acquisition campaign offshore Indonesia.
