Young professionals and students have shared their views on current trends and developments emerging as part of the energy transition, and how that affects the future workforce that is yet to join the offshore energy sector.
The speakers of the session included Sep Ursone from Gezelschap Leeghwater, Evelien de Wolff from Electrotechnische Vereeniging, and Roman van Laak , the Lead CCUS Development Engineer at Neptune Energy.
Opposite to the workforce in the traditional energy sectors – such as fossil fuel energy – which had to adjust to the energy transition move, the new generation seems to have grown up with the energy transition on their minds which is reflected in their choice of studies and subsequent career ambitions.
Evelien de Wolff: “I chose my studies because I wanted to do something with energy, and also I already was very interested in the sustainable side of the electrical engineering. I wanted to be part of the energy transition because I think it’s very important that the world will change to that”.
