Norwegian subsea contractor Ocean Installer is carrying out power cable load out for the CNOOC Liuhua 16-2 field development in the South China Sea.
The CSV Connector has arrived at Aker Solutions’ facility in Mobile, Alabama, where Ocean Installer is working together with this engineering company and Maritime Developments Limited to ensure its first offshore project in China maintains momentum.
Aker Solutions won orders to deliver more than 35 kilometers of dynamic and static power umbilicals for the Liuhua 16-2, 20-2 and 21-2 fields, linking the subsea development to a new floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit.
Ocean Installer’s work scope encompasses project management, engineering, transportation and installation of subsea power cables as well as various other support functions to the client’s engineering team.
Ocean Installer is conducting the work as a subcontractor to COOEC Subsea Technology – responsible for the deepwater SURF (Structures, Umbilicals, Risers, Flowlines) EPCI scope.
The company expects to execute Liuhua 16-2 cable installation works in the summer of 2020.
The Liuhua 16-2 oil field, operated by CNOOC, is located approximately 240 kilometres south of Hong Kong at water depth of approximately 400 metres.
Ocean Installer added that protection measures for the health and safety of all alongside and onboard the vessel are in place during the ongoing pandemic challenges.
