A contract for the Shelf Drilling-owned jack-up drilling rig operating in the Middle East has been changed to end sooner than previously agreed.

The rig owner said on Wednesday that it had entered into a mutual agreement with the customer to amend the contract end date for the Shelf Drilling Tenacious from January 2022 to September 2020.

This contract was originally executed in 2017 and started in early 2018 in the Middle East. In July 2019, Shelf Drilling had executed a two-year extension for each of the Shelf Drilling Tenacious and the Shelf Drilling Mentor jack-up rigs, committing both rigs until January 2022.

According to Shelf Drilling’s fleet status report, the company’s client for both of these rigs is Dubai Petroleum in the UAE. Bassoe’s dayrate estimate for each of the rigs was $60,000.

The premium jack-up rig Shelf Drilling Tenacious is of BMC Pacific Class 375 design. The rig available for opportunities beginning mid-September 2020. The 375 foot jack-up rig was built in 2007.
