Worldwide offshore rig count in April up by 62 rigs year-over-year

The worldwide offshore rig count in April 2019 increased by 5 units sequentially and by 62 rigs year-over-year, according to monthly rig count reports by Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE).

The worldwide offshore rig count in April 2019 increased by 5 units sequentially and by 62 rigs year-over-year, according to monthly rig count reports by Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE).

BHGE splits its rig counts into international and North America rig counts, which combined make the worldwide rig count.

Baker Hughes said in on Tuesday that the international rig count for April 2019 was 1,062, up 23 from the 1,039 counted in March 2019, and up 84 from the 978 counted in April 2018.

The international offshore rig count for April 2019 was 251, up 4 from the 247 counted in March 2019, and up 57 from the 194 counted in April 2018.

Regionally, Asia Pacific had the highest number of offshore rigs in April totaling 99, down 3 from March 2019 and up 23 from 76 in April 2018.

Middle East region held the second place in the number of offshore rigs during April totaling 56, up 1 rig from March 2019 and up 13 from 43 counted in April 2018.

Next up was Europe with 41, then Latin America with 32, and finally Africa with 23 offshore rigs in April 2019.

In North America , the offshore rig count in April 2019 totaled 24, up one from March 2019 and up 5 from 19 counted in April 2018.

The worldwide rig count for April 2019 was 2,140, down 73 from the 2,213 counted in March 2019, and up 53 from the 2,087 counted in April 2018.

The worldwide offshore rig count for April 2019 was 275, up 5 from 270 in March 2019 and up 62 from 213 in April 2018.
