Iceni Marine Services is supporting Manor Renewable Energy’s work at the Galloper offshore wind farm off the coast of Suffolk, where Manor is providing a temporary power solution during the wind turbine installation and commissioning.

Siemens Gamesa, the supplier of 56 wind turbines for the project, hired Manor Renewable Energy to supply, install, commission, refuel and maintain temporary generators at the offshore wind farm.

Iceni’s vessel Iceni Defender is operating daily from Great Yarmouth, transferring crew and equipment to assist with the temporary power solution. The vessel is working for between 12 to 14 hours per day and has been providing 100% availability, Iceni said.

In order to assist Manor Renewable Energy, Iceni Marine Sevices has also provided facilities at its head office in Lowestoft.

Eric Briar , Director at Manor Renewable Energy, said: “Iceni, the Iceni Defender and her crews have gone the extra mile to assist us with making our project a success.”

Richard Thurlow , Director at Iceni Marine Services, said: “The work at Galloper has been very demanding but I am enormously proud of both the Iceni Defender and the crew’s performance. Despite establishing a very high benchmark, Iceni have continued to improve with each one of our 23m vessels.”

Iceni Defender is the third of four 23m crew transfer vessels owned and operated by Iceni, each capable of transferring 12 passengers in up to 2m wave heights and operating at speeds of up to 30 knots.

The vessel was named in December 2016, after South Boats IOW and Alicat Workboats launched it at the beginning of November.

Iceni Defender was ordered by Iceni in February 2016, with an option for further two vessels. In March 2016, Iceni ordered another vessel .
