Tenders invited for additional O&M at Swansea’s tidal lagoon
Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay Plc has begun the tendering process for three main operations and maintenance (O&M) contract packages to support the £1 bln Swansea Bay Tidal lagoon project. The three contract packages being tendered are: lagoon maintenance, public realm infrastructure maintenance, and general facilities management services.
Atlantis completes acquisition of Siemens’ Marine Current Turbines
Atlantis Resources Limited completed the acquisition of Marine Current Turbines Limited (MCT) from Siemens AG in an all share deal, conditional upon admission of the consideration shares. Atlantis now owns MCT’s seabed rights, existing projects, staff and intellectual property, including tidal turbine intellectual property portfolio and the designs for MCT’s turbines.
Sabella delays D10 cable connection
The final cable connection of the Sabella D10 tidal turbine still remains to be done, as the vessel MV Palembang was proclaimed unsuitable for this specific task on Friday, June 26. Sabella said that any damage to the equipment may jeopardize the successful completion of the project. Therefore, the company decided that the connection work will be done in July with a more suitable vessel that has dynamic positioning.
Canada to map out tidal energy data
The Government of Canada has announced an investment of $65.000, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s Innovative Communities Fund, in support of a new geographic information system mapping platform for Bay of Fundy. This online tidal energy atlas will be used to understanding how to harness masive tidal energy potential in a sustainable manner and capitalize on the economic opportunities it can provide.
