CETO 5 full array now in operation
Carnegie Wave has installed the third and final CETO 5 Unit off the Garden Island. The full array of three units is now operating at Perth Wave Energy Project site. Carnegie initially planned to retrieve the two deployed units for inspection prior to installing the third, but the company decided to postpone the retrieval of the units in order to allow the initial period of time for three units to operate together.
BlueTec tidal platform deployment date set
BlueTec, a floating platform that generates energy from tides, is scheduled to be deployed in April. The naming ceremony will be held on April 9, 2015, in Den Helder, the Netherlands. Shortly after the naming ceremony, the floating tidal platform will be installed off the Texel island, and it will feed the electricty to a Texel-based plant.
Deadline for decision on Swansea tidal set
The six-month examination period closed on December 10, 2014. Planning Inspectorate had a period of 3 months to consider and make a recommendation to the Secretary of State. The Planning Inspectorate issued a report of recommendation to the Secretary of State on March 10, 2015. UK Secretary of state, Ed Davey, has 3 months to make a decision on the project.
