Ocean Power Technologies has announced plans to deploy their APB-350 (A1) PowerBuoy wave device in summer 2015.
The company stated the new PowerBuoy APB-350 (A1) will use the existing structure deployed in 2013, with a newly designed power take-off (PTO) system and upgraded components. The deployment of the device is expected to take place in summer 2015.
Ocean Power is working on their prototype APB-350 (A2) and the the company is expecting to deploy the device in late 2015.
George Kirby , President and Chief Executive of OPT, said: “Our second planned 2015 prototype APB-350 (A2) is being designed with an optimized geometry for improved operating efficiency as well as reduced fabrication, transportation and deployment costs. The A2 PowerBuoy is expected to undergo a preliminary design review in the second calendar quarter of 2015, with an anticipated deployment in late 2015.”
Ocean Power Technologies is a New Jersey-based wave energy developer that has designed their proprietary PowerBuoy technology based on a modular design.
