DNV GL’s Energy Academy is offering training courses for professionals in the wave and tidal energy sector, scheduled for May 5 and 8, 2015.
Wave Energy Conversion course is scheduled for May 5. An overview of the fundamental principles behind the main technological solutions to convert ocean wave energy into electricity will be presented, as well as the methodologies used for evaluation of wave and device data.
In addition, hydrodynamic modelling techniques (both numerical and experimental), details of several power conversion mechanisms and an account of full-scale real seas experience to date will also be covered.
The course scheduled for May 8 will provide an overview of the basic principles behind the technological solutions for conversion of tidal energy into electricity, along with the methodologies used for evaluation of tidal resources.
A review of the different leading concepts, the design of foundations and installation process and seabed infrastructure, and an account of the industry’s progress to full-scale deployment will also be covered.
The marine renewables team of DNV GL (formerly Garrad Hassan) was formed in 2005. It offers services to the marine renewables sector, which span from technical due diligence to resource assessment, and include numerical modelling, support to experimental test rounds and strategic studies.
Project developers, device developers, lenders, marine contractors, network operators and regulators, R&D institutions, leading test centres and other professionals are invited to attend the course that will be held in Glasgow, Scotland.
