On August 12, around 3pm, a fire broke out in the engine room of the Vestland Marine’s vessel Ramco Crusader, which was providing support to drilling operations offshore Brazil, Petrobras informs.

At Least 17 Dead After Ferry Collides with Cargo Ship in Philippines

A passenger ferry with nearly 700 people aboard sank after colliding with a cargo ship on Friday evening near the central city of Cebu, Philippines, not far from shore, killing at least 17 people, the AP reports.

Oil Leaks from Bulk Carrier Kiani Satu (South Africa)

The bulk carrier Kiani Satu, carrying 330 tonnes of heavy fuel oil and 15.000 tonnes of rice, ran aground in heavy seas west of the Goukamma River estuary, off Buffels Bay, Knysna on Thursday due to mechanical problems. The grounding damaged the vessel’s tanks causing oil leak.

VARD Bags Contracts for Four Pipelayers

Vard Holdings Limited (“VARD”) has secured contracts with joint ventures of DOF Subsea and Technip for the design and construction of four Pipe Lay Support Vessels (PLSVs).

Huisman Secures Contracts for Ten Pipelay Systems

Huisman, a specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, has secured new contracts for 10 pipelay systems with various major offshore pipelay contractors. The new contracts include three 550mt Tiltable Lay Systems (TLS) and one 325mt Vertical Lay System (VLS) for Subsea 7, two 650mt TLS and two 340mt VLS for Technip-DOF, one 275mt VLS and one 570mt Multi-lay System for Ceona.
