The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) does not confront consumers, rather its moves on their side to materialize a win-win game in line with mutual interests.

Addressing the GECF meeting in Moscow, Iranian minister of petroleum, Rostam Qasemi, expressed hope the club of gas exporting countries to put behind all the necessary steps toward development and progress successfully changing into an influential player in the world gas market, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

Enumerating advantages of gas as a clean fuel including its economic and environmental benefits, he said these specifications have driven natural gas consumption upward so that its share in the energy basket of the world is on the rise.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said unity of the gas exporting countries with an aim of defending their collective interests is of grave importance.

Qasemi criticized political behavior of some of gas consumers which could endanger demand security.

At the end of his speech, Qasemi invited all the GECF’s member to take part in the 15th ministerial meeting of the forum which is going to be held in Tehran in November.

The Member Countries of the Forum are: Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. Kazakhstan, Iraq, the Netherlands and Norway have the status of Observer Members.
