Jersey should focus on research and investment in new energy sources, the island’s minister for the environment Robert Duhamel said to BBC.

According to the minister, economic development department innovation fund should be used to back up the development of new energy sources.

He also added that the Jersey’s tidal resources should be exploited.

BBC quoted the minister as saying: “ A key issue was recognising that we have energy dense waters and it is a resource that could be exploited.

“But any exploiting of that water would need to be done with others.”
