In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, about ten months after the start of construction, the heavy load vessel Stanislav Yudin transported the last of the 40 tripods to the construction site of Trianel’s Borkum Offshore Wind Farm and anchored it in a water depth of approximately 30 meters in the German Bight.
“In less than two months, we have erected the remaining 21 tripods,” said Managing Director of Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum GmbH & Co. KG, Klaus Horstick , who is very satisfied with the logistic performance at the sea. “We have phases of good weather this spring that we can exploit optimally.”
At the end of February, the foundation work had been resumed at the Trianel’s Borkum offshore wind farm, after an almost three-month winter break.
During the seven-month construction phase, the heavy load vessels Stanislav Yudin and Oleg Strashnov have transported the tripods, which weigh up to 900 tons and measure over 30 meters in height, to the construction field.
The starting point was the so-called ABC peninsula of the BLG, a company from Bremerhaven, where large components for wind farms are handled and stored in an area of 100,000 square meters. “In May, we will start with the construction of wind turbines from the Eemshaven in the Netherlands. The preliminary work is already underway,” Horstick explained.
In the coming weeks, the final assembly of the rotors for the AREVA M5000 systems will begin. The approximately 56 meter long rotor blades will be mounted on the rotor hub, each with 72 bolts.
