Deputy minister of petroleum and managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Javad Owji explained the result of Iranian minister of petroleum talks with his Pakistani counterpart on gas pipeline in Islamabad.

He said that all the agreements between the two countries under the Iran-Pakistan gas contract are valid adding Tehran will start delivery of 21.5 million cubic meters of gas per day to the neighboring country as of December 2014, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

Owji continued that all the new agreements are within the earlier contractual framework and the two sides stressed on their implementation.

“ One of the main topics on negotiations agenda was finalization of Iran’s participation in construction of 710 kilometers of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline inside Pakistan territory ”, Owji said.

He continued during the negotiations, Iranian minister of petroleum stressed on participation of capable Iranian contractors in laying down gas pipeline in Pakistan territory.

According to Owji the two sides also finalized the timeframe for laying down the gas pipeline, the volume of gas delivery and its price.

“ By taking into account that Iran’s gas production capacity will double in next two or three years, the Iranian side expressed readiness to raise gas exports to Islamabad to more than 30 million cubic meters per day” , he added.

Owji said Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project would be completed before its scheduled completion date of 2014.
