As Reuters reports, German Chancellor Merkel’s cabinet gave a green light to a draft law aimed at spurring offshore wind development, which is the key part of the German green energy shift.

The draft will now go through the parliamentary legislative process.

So far the offshore wind development has been falling behind solar and onshore wind sectors due to high costs and liability issues.
