Vanco Brasil Exploração e Produção de Petróleo e Gás Natural Ltda., a wholly owned subsidiary of PanAtlantic Energy Group, has started it three-well drilling campaign on blocks BM-S-72 (SM-1100), BM-S-63 (SM-1036), and BM-S-71 (SM-1035), in the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil.

Vanco yesterday spudded the Sabia well in the BM S 72 block in the southern Santos basin offshore Brazil. The well is being drilled with Transocean’s semi submersible drilling rig, the GSF Arctic I.

The Sabia well is located offshore approximately 230 km south of the city of Santos in a water depth of approximately 200 meters. The well will be vertically drilled with a target depth of 4486 meters.

The drilling operation for this well is expected to take 2 3 months. After finishing this well the rig will drill the Canario prospect (BM S 63) and the Jandaia prospect (BM S 71).

PanAtlantic, through its Brazilian subsidiary Vanco Brasil Exploração e Produção de Petróleo e Gás Natural Ltda., holds a 70% participating interest in the concessions, together with Panoro Energy do Brasil Ltda. 15% and Brasoil Round 9 Exploração Petrolífera Ltda. 15%.
