Saipem has awarded Ocean Installer a subcontract for the installation and recovery of a Pipeline Initiation System at the Scott Field development in the UK North Sea.

Saipem is contracted to undertake pipelay operations at the Scott Field development, and has subcontracted the installation and recovery of a Pipeline Initiation System, comprised of suction pile and sheave assembly, to Ocean Installer.

“We are pleased that Saipem has chosen to cooperate with Ocean Installer as part of its work at the Scott Field development, and we are looking forward to join efforts with Saipem on this project,” says Steinar Riise, CEO of Ocean Installer.

Ocean Installer commenced the installation work in May 2012, whilst the subsequent recovery work is scheduled for later in the summer 2012. Ocean Installer will make use of the long-term chartered subsea construction vessel “Normand Clipper”. This is Ocean Installer’s first job for Saipem and Normand Clipper’s first engagement in the UK sector of the North Sea since the Ocean Installer charter commenced on May 1st 2012.

The Scott Field development is located in the UK sector of the North Sea at a water depth of approximately 140 metres and is encompassed of the Scott and Telford well clusters. Nexen Petroleum UK Limited is the operating partner of the Scott Field development.
