The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office has agreed a deal to supply Warsash Maritime Academy, one of the UK’s leading maritime training colleges and pioneer of the use of bridge simulators for higher level training, with training licences for its full portfolio of Admiralty Digital Publications.

The agreement will see Warsash Maritime Academy, part of Southampton Solent University, utilise the full Admiralty Digital Publication portfolio in its passage planning, ECDIS, navigation and radio module training. The applications, which include the Admiralty TotalTide, Admiralty Digital Lights List and Admiralty Digital Radio Signals (volume 6), will be installed on up to seventy work stations across its campus.

Admiralty is a world authority and provider of quality products and services essential for safe marine Navigation, with more than 10,000 vessels currently using Admiralty Digital Publications.

Chris Lowe, Senior Lecturer at Warsash , says, “We always strive to prepare our students not only for their exams, but also the reality they will face at sea. Our new training licences will ensure that officers trained at Warsash are ready to serve on the many ships that are using Admiralty Digital Publications.”

Pete Hatton, Admiralty Digital Publications Product Manager, United Kingdom Hydrographic Office , says, “Training is one of the largest challenges facing the industry, as the first deadline for the mandatory carriage of ECDIS comes into force in July 2012. The use of digital publications, to support passage planning and navigation, is becoming increasingly widespread, with training institutes like Warsash providing an invaluable service for the maritime industry.

“The advanced functionality of applications like Admiralty TotalTide, the world’s most comprehensive tidal prediction service, and Admiralty Digital Lights List, which provides automatic updating, has established Admiralty Digital Publications as firm favourites with mariners. Admiralty Digital Publications are simple to install and come with an easy to follow user guide – with round-the-clock support and advice available from our customer services team. We are delighted to work closely with Warsash to help prepare and train the next generation of mariners for their careers at sea.”
