Bluefin Robotics, a leader in the design and manufacturing of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) announces that the company has hired several new key employees, including Mr. Omer Poroy as Vice President of Business Development and Mr. Ian Estaphan Owen as Director of Programs.

Over the last 3 months, Bluefin has increased the company workforce by 15% further positioning the firm for substantial growth.

Mr. Poroy joined Bluefin in January. He is an Ocean Engineer by training and spent the past decade with Teledyne RD Instruments (TRDI), leading the industry in Doppler Aided Navigation Solutions for AUVs. Poroy’s most recent role as the Director of Navigation Product Lines at TRDI allowed him to interface with a number of platform providers around the world and work across a broad range of industries and application areas. His primary focus at Bluefin will be to lead the company’s global business development initiatives to significantly grow the company’s presence in the commercial sector while maintaining steady growth in the defense sector.

Prior to joining the company in March, Mr. Ian Estaphan Owen spent over four years working for Raytheon where he served as Lifecycle Support Program Manager for the US Navy’s Airborne Low Frequency Sonar (ALFS) and a lead for several elements of the Ocean Observatories Initiative as part of the WHOI-led Coastal and Global Scale Nodes team. Prior, Mr. Owen spent 11 years at Lockheed Martin and 12 years in the Royal Navy. His primary role at Bluefin will be to oversee and manage the company’s broad and diverse program base.

“I am very confident that Omer and Ian will play key roles in leading Bluefin towards achieving its sales and program goals,” said David P. Kelly, President and CEO of Bluefin Robotics. “We have been very successful in recruiting talent to Bluefin and I am pleased with the well-rounded and effective workforce we have been able to cultivate.”

The company continues to recruit skilled electrical, mechanical, software and systems engineers and technicians in order to fulfill current contracts as well as position the company for future growth.
