A research financed by the EU’s INTERREG IVA Programme has identified that subsea power grid between Scottish and Irish offshore renewable sites is feasible and could drive development in the sector.

ISLES says that interconnected transmission network would generate revenues, and create jobs.

The statement contains facts to help understand the economic and technical challenges of creating an offshore interconnected transmission network and subsea power grid, in accordance with the Scottish Government.

“ This ground-breaking examination highlights the possibilities and the challenges in realising our shared renewables potential. It is further evidence, if any were needed, of the huge economic opportunities renewable energy provides. ” said Finance secretary John Swinney.
