Earlier this week the CEO of Ulstein Group, Gunvor Ulstein was in London to receive an award for young prominent leaders. She was awarded the Seatrade Young Person in Shipping 2011 Award in recognition of her exemplary career in the shipping and offshore sector, as a role model for young people considering a career in the maritime sector.

The award was presented by HRH Princess Anne of Great Britain. In her acceptance speech Gunvor Ulstein said that this is a price that she shares with all employees in ULSTEIN and her family. Marine operations are becoming more complex and global and higher standards for efficiency, safety and green responsibility is demanded, she said:

“Future success will depend on our ability to come up with new ideas and our willingness to challenge conventional ways of doing things. With creative enthusiasm, we will work on combining skills, knowledge and creativity to come up with new concepts, solutions and products that can carry the maritime sector into the future. This work is based on a continuous exchange of knowledge and experience in the maritime cluster. Through hard work and creative enthusiasm, we shall create tomorrow’s solutions for sustainable marine operations she ended.

Gunvor Ulstein has previously also received management awards: In 2006 she was awarded Business Woman of the Year and got the Veuve Clicquot Award. She was also awarded the Shipping Name of the year in 2008 by WISTA.
