Shri S. Vasudeva Rao, Chief Vigilance Officer, DCI, while welcoming the gathering referred to the provisions of United Nations Convention against Corruption, Whistle Blowers Protection Bill, RTI Act and CVC’s Draft National Anti-corruption Strategy circulated recently. He expressed the view that while strengthening transparency and leveraging technology in vigilance administration, proper recognition and reward of honest employees is of vital significance to efficient corporate governance.

Chairman & Managing Director of the Corporation, Capt. S.S. Tripathi stressed the need to be cautious in utilization of resources and avoid wasteful expenditure. He stated one should not be complacent and tolerant in the matters of corruption and boldly oppose irregular practices in management.

In his address, Shri J. Purnachandra Rao, IPS, Commissioner of Police, said that corruption is a fact of life and has to be faced squarely. He said that one should not have contradictory approach towards corruption and urge for happiness in life. Money can buy luxuries but not happiness. As the ill effects of evil ways are too well known, one must uphold spiritual values in both professional and personal lives.

Shri P.M. Mohan, IPS, Chief Vigilance Officer, Visakhapatnam Port Trust in his address, emphasized that indulging in corruption is akin to selling oneself in market for a price. This leaves a big dent on one’s self-respect and corrodes ethical fabric of the entire society.

Shri P.V. Ramana Murthy, Director (Finance) and Shri P. Sridharan, Director (Ops. & Tech.) were present. A large number of DCI officers and staff attended the meeting.

The meeting ended with vote of thanks by Shri V. Narasimha Rao, DGM(Legal).
