Store chain Asda has called on the UK to abandon Europe’s Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) and urged conservation of North Sea cod for British fishermen. The company said the protection of fishermen’s livelihoods – particularly in Scotland – required drastic measures to preserve stocks. The Seafood Processors Federation (SSFF) has already made the CFP call.
