Dredging of Miami River to be resumed

The first maintenance dredging of the Miami River is at a standstill, but contractors are expected to return to work within months and remain until the financial well runs dry. The first maintenance dredging of the Miami River is at a standstill, but contractors are expected to return to work within months and remain until the financial well runs dry. Whether the vast amount of dredging that remains is completed will hinge on getting funding, officials say. The US Army Corps of Engineers says it plans to restart work between July and September, with $3.5 million allocated. After that runs out, dredging is expected to halt again until at least Oct.1.
