Shipyard capacity needs to be vastly upgraded to meet growing world demand for LNG (liquefied natural gas) vessels since transport is a key element in the LNG supply chain. Global LNG experts who were in Doha to attend a two-day forum on Middle East LNG shipping that concluded yesterday, equivocally called for enhancing LNG shipbuilding capacity worldwide. In remarks to The Peninsula, Karim Nassif from Standard and Poors ratings agency, UK, said, there were presently 185 LNG tankers in service the world over.
