Officials have been monitoring the leak since late March. About 300 gallons of oil have leaked into the water, apparently from a ship that sank in a storm in 1976 on its way to be scuttled farther offshore, said Dale Shively, a program coordinator at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
